Honoring Lives, Healing Together
Resiliency Day 2026 was a meaningful moment for our community to come together in remembrance, reflection, and healing following the tragic Monterey Park incident that occurred on January 21, 2023. As we honored the lives lost, the day served as a powerful reminder of the strength, compassion, and resiliency that continue to carry our community forward.
Families, children, and community members gathered to engage in activities centered on mental wellness, connection, and resilience. Through dancing, music, yoga, qigong, drumming, community partnerships, and creative art activities, participants were invited to care for both their emotional and physical well-being. These shared experiences created space for collective healing, offering comfort, joy, and moments of connection in a supportive environment.
Resiliency Day emphasized the importance of continuous community care. It reminds us that healing does not happen alone, but together. The event fostered connection across generations and provided accessible, culturally meaningful practices that encouraged reflection, expression, and renewal.
This event was made possible through the partnership and guidance of the City of Monterey Park, whose unwavering support has been present from the incident and continues today. Their leadership and commitment to the well-being of residents played a vital role in creating a safe and healing space for the community.
Resiliency Day stands as a testament to Monterey Park's enduring spirit, honoring loss, nurturing healing, and moving forward together with strength and compassion.
